Bikes and accessories are not in very good shape. Staff member was rude. I won't be renting from here again
I spoke to the owner today and was so impressed by how helpful he was. He spent quite a bit of time answering all of my many questions and suggesting great places to bike to. I would definitely recommend this shop for any bike rental needs. This is business that has been around for a long time and they are really experienced with whatever you may need.
We've rented bikes when staining in Cape May in the past. This visit we were closest to Shields, what a disaster...I'd never recommend them. The guy renting the bikes argued with me about the bicycle lock it was broken but it was my fault until he tried himself and said oh yeah your right, it is broken. The bikes were pretty crappy too. Save yourself a visit and rent at Congress Hall.
Great way to see Cape May. The bikes we had were 'cruisers' with coaster brakes and no gears. But, the cape is so flat, we didn't need gears. Probably put about 15 miles on them just cruising the streets (wonderful homes) and a trip out to the lighthouse and back. The owner was nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I'd rent again!
We had a great time renting from Shields! They dropped the bikes off at our rental house with locks and baskets. They were very trusting and didn't require any deposit. We were able to ride our bikes down to the shop the next day and pay for them which was so convenient. We used them over the whole weekend and then they came to pick them up at the end of the trip. They have great prices and I would definitely rent from them again.
