I found these folks to be very helpful. We were not able to do the xmas light trolley tour because it was sold out but we went on the historic house tour and the guide was excellent. The information booth is clearly marked in washington square and they were helpful answering our questions.
Just finished up the Christmas Candlelight House Tour. The tour was scheduled from 5:30-8:30. We began our tour promptly at 5:30 at the Methodist Church. The tour was lovely until we ventured out to East Cape May, where the three locations were less than spectacular and four trolleys passed the Kiwanis Club due to being full of passengers. Each time we were told another trolley would be by in five minutes. We ended up being stranded at this location for forty minutes. Because of this, we missed out on 14 of the 25 locations along the route. I'm very disappointed with the lack of organization with regards to the trolley system. Had there been more trolleys along the route, we may have been able to get to the best places we were saving for last. The establishments we were able to make it to were lovely and exceptionally accommodating. I will be contacting MAC to discuss my concerns and hope they will compensate us appropriately.
My husband and I attended MAC Victorian Weekend 2014. As much as we love Cape May, the Victorian Weekend was a great disappointment for our first and probably our last.The events listed under the "Victorian Weekend" were, for the most part, events that we could do any other time of the year and not specifically directed to anything celebrating Victorian Weekend in a town considered to be synonymous with the Victorian period, We went on tours listed and found ourselves the only dressed in support of the weekend. We have attended small town events with more people dressed in celebratory attire. With not sure what to expect, our impression was that we would see loads of folks like us momentarily stepping back in time with events to celebrate a time-gone-by era in opulent fashion. Unfortunately, we maybe saw a handful of people dressed basically doing what we did...walk around town for the weekend. Even residents of Cape May inquired "what was going on" and "why we were dressed like that". Perhaps a complimentary "meet and greet" or "icebreaker" on the part of MAC for those dressing up in Victorian to show appreciation for support to their (MAC) event in lieu of the discontinued Victorian Ball could be considered.
I booked my trolley tour online and was not given a lot of information in regards to where to go. We ended up missing our trolley tour because we couldn't find the information booth. When I called I was told "well most people are able to figure out where they should go." I found that rude and inconsiderate.
Children's Trolley Tour was a disappointment. The tour guide did a great job with what she had, however, only a few blocks were covered. I would suggest the song sheets be laminated so we know they are expected to be returned. If she would have pointed out other things we could do with children, that would have been helpful as well.
