Lovely preserve thanks to the Nature Conservancy with observation platforms, lots of waterfowl, and paths to the beach. Many years ago, this spot was a little grill called the Outpost. The park is a big improvement.
Excellent place for shorebirds or ducks! Easy flat loop, goes out to the beach if you want. They have a connector trail to Cape May Point State Park in the off-season. One of the key birding locations in Cape May.
Walking through the behind-the-dunes paths along the marshes and ponds is a wonderful way to observe the many waterfowl (ducks, geese, swans, wading birds) and songbirds, without intruding. We even caught some swans mating -- and it happened really fast!
Some days a wonderful variety of birds, other days few birds. Usually worth a visit.
Great place to walk and look at nature. Flat and well maintained. Perfect for birding.
